Highway in far west obstructed

BAITADI, Aug 19: Continuous rainfall has obstructed the Dasharath Chand highway and the Mahakali highway in Baitadi district.



The incessant rain that took place for the past six days has brought the vehicular movements on the highways to a halt. [break]



Landslide occurred at Chhela of Dasharath Chand municipality-1 along the Dadeldhura-Baitadi-Dasharath Chand highway has caused traffic disruption for the past three days.



Though security personnel from the Nepal Police and the Nepal Army have been making efforts to clear the highway, vehicles have not been operated smoothly since mudslide is still blocking the road.



Likewise, transport service has not been eased due to obstructions caused by landslides at Bangabagad (Gokuleshor) and Sillegad of the Mahakali highway linking Satbanjh of Baitadi district and Darchula.



People are compelled to walk on foot to visit the famous and typical festival of far-western region, Gaura to take place on August 21.



Passengers en route to Bajhang, Bajura and Chwagadh and Purchaudi of Baitadi have been hit hard due to vehicular disruption.



Assistant Chief District Officer, Hari Raj Bista said efforts are being made to bring the highway into operation.



Supply of electricity, which was disrupted in the district headquarters for the past three days due to heavy rain, has been made smooth from Thursday.
