KATHMANDU, June 29: Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has said that discussions are underway at a high level to pass the citizenship bill through parliament.
Speaking at a meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Home Minister Khand said discussions were underway at the parliamentary level and at a higher political level to pass the citizenship bill.

He said that a conclusion has to be drawn regarding the bill. He mentioned that the government will do its homework in the coming days to draft an integrated Social Security Act.
He said, "The bill related to citizenship has been discussed in this committee for about 22 months and is now in the House of Representatives as a report. It is being discussed at the higher level. And that too has to be concluded.”
“It also takes some time. For this, more homework has to be done. In the days to come, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the government will also do their homework in this regard. The state must be responsible,” he added.
Home Minister Khand also said that the bill to amend the Social Security Act, 2075 BS should be passed soon. He said that the government was ready to provide positive assistance to make the parliamentary committees effective.
