KATHMANDU, Dec 29: The Patan High Court has issued an order to allow all participants including those earlier taking examinations for ‘shipbuilding’ jobs in South Korea to participate in other categories of the Employment Permit System (EPS) examination.

Hearing on the writ petition filed by a group of Korea job aspirants including Ganesh Rai, a single bench of the High Court Judge Chandramani Gyawali issued an order to allow all aspirants to fill applications and participate in the examination process.

The court order asked the government bodies concerned not to bar anyone wanting to participate in the EPS examination to fill the application forms. The order has been issued in accordance with Rule 42(1) of the High Court Rules, 2073 BS.

The court order states, “... An interim order has been issued in accordance with Rule 42(1) of the High Court Rules, 2073 BS in the name of the defendants ordering them not to obstruct the applicants along with those having similar interests from filling the application form opened on 2080/9/2 as per the notice issued on 2080/8/19 and to allow them to fill the examination forms. The defendants should be informed about the order as per the rules."

This court order ensures that all individuals who were unable to apply for the productive sector will now have the opportunity to sit for the exams. Previously, the court issued an interim order, allowing only 18 individuals who had filed the case to reapply for jobs in South Korea's manufacturing sector. This exclusion sparked protests, leading to police firing that resulted in two casualties.

Over 32,000 Korean job aspirants participated in the EPS examination taken for ship-building.
