KATHMANDU, Jan 5: Flights in the country have been affected due to adverse weather conditions. Due to adverse weather conditions, domestic flights were affected by low visibility.
While Visual Flight Rules (VFR) flights are still operating at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), most airports outside Kathmandu have not been able to operate flights in the morning. According to the spokesperson for the TIA, Rinji Sherpa, flights have not been possible at airports outside Kathmandu, except for Bhadrapur, Bharatpur, Pokhara, and Surkhet.

At the Kathmandu Airport, both domestic and international flights are operating regularly. However, some airports where direct flights depart from Kathmandu have not been able to operate due to weather conditions.
Buddha Air Spokesperson Dipendra Kumar Karn said that although flights have resumed at Bhadrapur, Bharatpur, Pokhara, and Surkhet, other airports are still closed due to low visibility. He said that thick fog in the Terai region has been causing delays in the reopening of these airports.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD), due to the partial effect of the western low pressure system, the weather is partially to generally cloudy in most parts of the country.
According to Binu Maharjan, a meteorologist of the MFD, it is now mostly cloudy in Karnali, Lumbini, Gandaki, Bagmati and the eastern parts of Madhesh provinces, while the weather is partially cloudy in Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces.
“Compared to today, tomorrow (Monday) will have more cloud cover and there is a possibility of rainfall as well,” said Maharjan, “There is a possibility of light rain in the hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.”
