KATHMANDU, Jan 5: The High Court, Patan, is to begin hearing on an appeal filed by Sandeep Lamichhane, the former captain of the Nepali National Cricket Team, who is in judicial custody at present on the charge of raping a minor. Lamichhane has been accused of raping a 17-year-old girl.
The hearing on the appeal that was supposed to be held last Thursday was held in abeyance due to the lack of time. The case of appeal that was supposed to be heard by the bench of Patan High Court Judges Subhash Paudel and Kiran Kumar Pokharel was held in abeyance.
Lamichhane’s lawyers filed an appeal at the Patan High Court after the Kathmandu District Court ordered him to be remanded in judicial custody for investigation. The Kathmandu District Court has also ordered to confirm the records of the victim's age from the hospital she was born at.
