Hearing on rape case against Sandeep Lamichhane to continue today

KATHMANDU, Dec 29: The hearing on the rape case against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane is set to continue today.

Although continuous hearing started from December 24 in the bench of Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal of Kathmandu District Court, the hearing of the case will continue today as the proceedings remain inconclusive.

Previously, the Kathmandu District Court had remanded Sandeep to a pre-trial detention in connection with the minor rape case. However, Patan High Court later ordered his release on a bail of Rs 2 million. Lamichhane has also been granted permission to participate in foreign competitions.

The Kathmandu District Court has been conducting hearings in the case for three consecutive days. The final decision in the matter is expected today following the completion of arguments on behalf of the defendant.
