KATHMANDU, June 23: The hearing on the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives ( HoR) is scheduled to continue at the Supreme Court from today.


A constitutional bench of five justices including Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana is to continue the hearing on the HoR dissolution case from Wednesday. As many as 30 writ petitions have been filed at the apex court against the dissolution of parliament.

The petitioners have demanded reinstatement of parliament and appointment of Nepali Congress(NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the prime minister. As many as 146 lawmakers of the dissolved parliament have signed the writ petition.


CJ Rana formed a five-member constitutional bench including justices Deepak Kumar Karki, Mira Khadka, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai on the basis of seniority to conduct hearings on the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of parliament.


President Bidya Devi Bhandari dissolved the lower house of parliament for the second time at the recommendation of PM KP Sharma Oli on May 21.
