Health improving significantly: Dr. Upendra Devkota

LONDON, Dec 27: Speaking to Republica Online, Dr. Upendra Devkota said that his health had improved significantly. While undergoing regular checkup in Nepal, Devkota suffered from jaundice in his liver and had gone to London three weeks ago.

LONDON, Dec 27: Speaking to Republica Online, Dr. Upendra Devkota said that his health had improved significantly. While undergoing regular checkup in Nepal, Devkota suffered from jaundice in his liver and had gone to London three weeks ago.


“In the beginning, he was suffering from minor jaundice. It was slightly different when treating in Nepal,” Madhu Devkota, wife Dr. Devkota, said. . “We decided to come to London for treatment because our daughter was close by.” Daughter Megha is a student in the same college.


Madhu also dispelled social media rumors that claimed her husband was suffering from cancer. 


“He doesn’t have cancer. There was a problem in liver. By the time he underwent treatment, it had become infectious,” Madhu said. The Devkota family also expressed dissatisfaction when doctors gathered at Pashupatinath temple and lit candles on Sunday for speedy recovery from cancer.

She said that by next week, Dr. Devkota would be discharged. “We wanted to celebrate Christmas at home. It wasn’t possible. Now, we hope to celebrate the New Year at home.”


In order to avoid further infection, the hospital hasn’t allowed visitors. President Bidhya Devi Bhandari had spoken to the family to inquire about Dr. Devkota’s health.


 “I am thankful for all the wishes from my well wishers,” Devkota, former minister and senior neurosurgeon of Nepal said.
