Half dozen red panda killed in Jajarkot

SURKHET, July 14: Half a dozen red pandas, listed as endangered species, were killed by poachers in Jajarkot district during the last five months.



Three of the animals were killed by villagers by snaring them while one was killed by children with catapult, said Hari Bahadur Singh of Nayakdanda VDC-2.[break]



Similarly, two more red pandas were found dead in the jungle.



The bamboo thickets at Jantelekh, Chyakhure, Burranse, Patane of Nayakbada VDC and Kharsu of Rokayagaun are the habitats of the rare red panda in Jajarkot.
