Guesthouse owner held for bribe attempt

KATHMANDU, Nov 20: An owner of a guesthouse has been arrested on the charge of attempting to bribe the police.


A squad from the Metropolitan Police Circle Maharajgunj apprehended Sommaya Rai, 40, the owner of Basundhara-based Aagaman Foodland and Guest House on the charge of seeking an unethical favour of police who reached the guesthouse during a raid.

She allegedly offered Rs 50,000 to the squad which was mobilised to raid the guesthouse acting upon the information that illegitimate affairs took place there, said Circle Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police Umesh Lamsal.


Rai has been sent to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority for further investigation. She was arrested on Tuesday night.
