Grande Hospital laboratory staff tests positive for COVID-19; admitted to Patan Hospital

KATHMANDU: A coronavirus positive case at the Tokha-based Grande International Hospital confirmed Saturday morning is a staff, who used to bring swab samples to the Teku-based National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL), confirmed a high-level police officer on condition of anonymity.


“The representatives of Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) have already reached the hospital to trace the persons who have come in contact with the infected person. Those traced by EDCD will be sent to home quarantine,” an official at EDCD, told Republica Online, adding that swab samples of the traced persons will be collected only after five days.

The infected person is a 34-year-old man, according to the health ministry.


The Grande Hospital staff has already been admitted to the isolation ward of the Lalitpur-based Patan Hospital.
