Govt’s policy, program being unveiled Monday

KATHMANDU, May 18: President Bidya Bhandari is scheduled to unveil the annual policy and program of the government in parliament on May 21.


 Writing to the parliament secretariat on Friday, President Bhandari informed about her plan to unveil the government’s annual policy and program on Monday at the joint meeting of the Houses of Parliament.

Joint meeting of the upper and lower houses has been convened at 4 pm on Monday.

The parliament should endorse the policy and program for the next fiscal year prior to the budget presentation in parliament. The parliament plans to hold deliberations on the policy and program for a week before unveiling the budget.


The government will present the budget for the next fiscal year in parliament on May 29, in line with the deadline specified in the constitution. The constitution states that the government should present the annual budget in the House by Jestha 15 (May 29) every year.


According to ruling party leaders the government will focus on construction of mega projects, railway links and other issues in the budget.
