BHAKTAPUR, Sept 23: Minister for Industry, Nabindra Raj Joshi, today vowed to rid the industrial sectors of strikes and make it strike-free.

Speaking at a felicitations program organized by Chamber of Commerce and Industry here, Minister Joshi spoke of the government's preparation to formulate regulation and Act in consultation with the political parties to turn the industrial sector into a strike-free zone. 

Expressing his concern over diversion of capital and human resources due to an absence of investment-friendly environment, the Industry Minister said policies and working procedures would be introduced soon to bar the industry workers from enforcing strikes, but allowing them to put forth their demands. 

"We have advanced discussion with other ministries to allow the Industry Minister its say over the issues pertaining to the industrial entrepreneurs under all the ministries," Minister Joshi said, adding "We are preparing to transform the ministry's structure in relation to it." 

The nation will see an about-turn only with the development of the industrial business, and the constitution's making and its implementation can only propel the country forward on path of economic prosperity, Minister Joshi added further.

At the program, Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Acting President Bhawani Rana took note of the fact that the country was still continuing through the transitional phase one year after the promulgation of the new constitution and warned that the country was now lagging behind in terms of economic development. 

Bhaktapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman, KP Awal, said preparations were being made for running skill-based training for strengthening the economy of quake-stricken youths.
