Govt to take diplomatic steps to search for Rathi

BIRATNAGAR, JAN 20: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar on Sunday assured that the government will take diplomatic initiatives to search for Biratnagar-based business Gangabishan Rathi, 69, who went missing 10 days ago.



Police suspect that Rathi might have been kidnapped while he was on the way to Siliguri of India on January 11.[break]



Talking to family members of the businessman in Biratnagar, Gachchhadar assured to take diplomatic initiatives to search for Rathi, saying he could have been kidnapped. Meanwhile, industry entrepreneurs of Biratnagar met Deputy Prime Minister Gachchhadar and pleaded to rescue him as soon as possible on Sunday.



In a complaint filed with the police, Rathi´s son Haribansha has said that his father had gone to Kakadbhitta on January 11 and he has remained out of contact since.



The District Police Office, Morang said it has been working with the Indian police in Darjeeling to search for Rathi. "We have sought help from the Indian police to search for Rathi," said Deputy Superintendent of Police Uma Prasad Chaturbedi.
