KATHMANDU, May 19: The government will make necessary legal arrangements for the collection and distribution of river-based stones, gravel, and sand.


On Friday, President Ram Chandra Paudel while announcing the policies and programs for the fiscal year 2023/24 said that necessary legal arrangements will be made to collect and distribute river-based stones, gravel, sand so as not to harm the environment.

Similarly, it is mentioned in the policies and programs that irrigation facilities will be provided throughout the year through appropriate irrigation techniques based on geographical conditions and water sources. The government is also set to update the irrigation master plan, and implement large projects, and advance the construction and maintenance of main and branch canals of large and multi-purpose irrigation projects.


Likewise, in the policies and programs presented by President Paudel, it is mentioned that the construction and operation of large multi-purpose diversion projects will be accelerated, the process will be advanced to provide irrigation facilities in Salyantar of Dhading, and the policy of providing a discount on electricity tariffs will be taken by making easy arrangements for electricity supply for irrigation. He also said that free water pumps and tube wells will be distributed to small farmers for irrigation.


The government also plans to make the country self-sufficient in wood. President Paudel clarified that there is a policy to encourage the operation of industries based on forest products and to discourage the import of wood and other forest products.


It is mentioned in the policies and programs that the trees will be sold and distributed in the coming days after completing the necessary procedures and an integrated program will be launched to promote agriculture and fruit production in the potential forest areas.
