Govt to give 50 pc incentive to VDC secy's

KATHMANDU, Feb 15: The government has decided to provide a monthly incentive of 50 percent of their salary to village development committee secretaries across the country.


A cabinet meeting held on Tuesday decided to provide the monthly incentive to VDC secretaries, informed Chief Secretary Som Lal Subedi.

Two weeks ago, VDC secretaries had halted work across the country, demanding an additional incentive of up to 50 percent of their monthly salary. 


Last year also, the cabinet had taken a similar decision, bowing to pressure from protesting VDC secretaries. 


Similarly, the cabinet meeting has decided to allow the authorities concerned to cut down trees in the forest areas for the operation of various projects and construction of the Nadaha Koshi Bridge. Similarly, the meeting has decided to allow the Department of Roads to use additional forest areas for upgradation work on the Chatara-Rupnagar road section. 


Likewise, the meeting decided to allow the authorities concerned to use forest areas for  the excavation of limestone in Palpa district. The meeting also formed a dialogue team to hold talks with the World Bank for receiving a loan for the School Sector Reform Program.
