Govt team inspects Urai border point with China

THALARA (Bajhang), June 6: A government team including police personnel has inspected the Urai border checkpoint with the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. 



Deputy Superintendent of Police Janakraj Pant and Saipal Rural Municipality Vice Chair Dolma Tamang were part of the team that inspected the bordering area around Pulan including the two auxiliary border posts at Nagna Danda, Urai.

Vice Chair Tamang said that the team reached the Urai transit after a three-day walk. The team consisted of 18 people including six government employees, five police personnel from Saipal Kanda and Dhuli police stations and security personnel from the Armed Police Force.


According to the Chief District Officer of Bajhang, Bishwamitra Kuinkel, the Urai border checkpoint will be fully operational from June 30. Five people have already received permits to go across the border for business and trade.


The transit point remained closed since the Covid-19 Pandemic. The governments of Nepal and China have agreed to gradually open all the 14 border crossings between the two countries.
