KATHMANDU, April 5: Economists and the private sector on Wednesday blame the political leaders for being apathetic about the serious economic problems that the country is facing at present.

Speaking at a program, Registrar of the Kathmandu University Professor Achyut Wagle said the major economic agendas have fallen in shadow in the high level political circle. “Although an improvement of external sectors has given some respite to the country, almost all the sectors of the economy have been facing serious economic problems,” he said.

Wagle pointed out the inability of the government to promote domestic productions. He also expressed his concerns over the falling shares of grants and increasing loans in the foreign development assistance.

Shekhar Golchha, president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry urged the government not to turn away from solving the current crisis. “The present economic problems are not only of the private sector, but of the entire nation,” he said.
