Govt spent Rs 23.16 billion by mid-May to tackle COVID-19

KATHMANDU, June 5: The government spent Rs 23.16 billion as of mid-May on the measures to check the spread of COVID-19 and treatment of the patients.



According to the Economic Survey 2020/21, the government had Rs 34.11 billion in the funds maintained to fight against the pandemic. The amount includes the government allocated budget and money collected from various sources.

Of the amount, provincial governments spent Rs 3.02 billion and local governments spent Rs 9.06 billion in the headings. Likewise, Rs 9.59 billion was spent in the last fiscal year.   


For the next fiscal year, the government has earmarked Rs 37.50 billion for the COVID-19 related prevention and treatment measures.
