Govt-SJTMM talks in Janakpur on Wed

KATHMANDU: The government and one of the armed outfits in Tarai, Samyukta Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (´Pawan´ group) are set to hold formal talks in eastern town of Janakpur, Wednesday, said Nepal TV, quoting chief district officer there. Of late, formal talks between the government and fringe armed outfits have begun after background parleys. However, two of the big armed groups -- Jwala Singh-led JTMM and Jaya Krishna Goit-headed ATMM -- are yet to enter into formal dialogue with the government. These groups have political demands but police records show they have resorted to crimes like abduction, extortion and even murder.
