KATHMANDU, Dec 26: The government and Samyukta Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (Pawan), an armed outfit operating in Tarai, agreed on five points at the end of the first round of talks Friday morning, according to Nepal FM.

The FM reported that both the sides have agreed on respecting federal democratic republic, national sovereignty and integrity, and national unity.

Similarly, the government has promised the armed outfit that it will ensure security of the talks team members while the latter agreed to cease armed activities.

Likewise, the government will treat the outfit politically, according to the agreement, and prepare the list of detained cadres of the outfit.

Another point of the agreement says that the government would gradually release the detained cadres of the outfit and take initiative to hold dialogue with other armed groups operating in the Tarai.

Similarly, both sides have agreed to arrange a mediator if needed.

The FM reported that the next round of talks would be held in Kathmandu. But the two sides have not agreed on the time and venue.
