Govt official convicted of abduction sent to jail

BANIYANI (Jhapa), June 22: A government official found guilty in the case of abduction and document forgery has been sent to jail. 


The District Court, Jhapa ordered the imprisonment of Tikaram Luitel, non-gazetted first class officer at Jhapa District Land Revenue Office on Wednesday following his failure to post bail amount of Rs 5 million on the same charge.

Luitel along with 16 others has been accused of abducting Jiban Bista of Sanishchare in Morang five months ago and trying to claim his land worth millions of rupees by the means of forgery. 


Acting on a complaint by the victim, police had arrested six accused following the incident. Four including Luitel have already been imprisoned while two have been released on bail. Police are searching for other absconding accused, the District Police Office said. RSS
