BIRATNAGAR, July 2: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Agni Prasad Kharel today said that the government has started engaging in works to formulate or amend necessary acts and laws to hold elections of all three levels—local, provincial and parliamentary.
Talking to media persons at Biratnagar Airport, Kharel said that the elections were the need of the hour for the implementation of the constitution.
On a different note, the Minister said that the government was moving ahead by sticking to the nine-point agreement reached with its coalition partner CPN (Maoist Centre) and that the government has completed preparing the bill to settle cases of human rights violation committed during the Maoist decade-long conflict and it would be tabled at the parliament soon.
On ways of sorting out Madhes issue, he reiterated that the government was ready to address genuine demands of the protesting United Democratic Madhesi Front, urging the protesting parties to come to the talks table for the same. RSS
