KATHMANDU, March 20: The government has formed a committee to monitor the calendars in the market that have been published without the approval of Nepal Calendar Determination Committee and take necessary action.
Home Ministry issues circular to seize ‘unauthentic’ calendars
The market monitoring committee was formed under the coordination of Basudev Krishna Shastri, a member of the Nepal Calendar Determination Committee. The committee also has Murari Raj Pandey and Khil Hari Ghimire as members. The committee will monitor and confiscate the unauthorized calendars and submit them to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and the Ministry of Home Affairs for legal action.
Surya Prasad Dhungel, executive director of the committee, said that the committee has so far approved the publication of more than 100 calendars for 2079 BS. There is a provision that the approved calendars should mention that they have been officially approved in the process of publication. The government has made these arrangements saying that the self-published calendars have created confusion on festivals, holidays and brought other issues.
