KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Cabinet on Wednesday decided to install relatively expensive thermal plants so as to meet electricity demands. The meeting directed Water Resources Minister Bishnu Poudel to initiate procedures towards installing the diesel-run plants.
Minister Poudel has been asked to submit a detailed report on how and where such plants should be installed.
The Cabinet also decided to amend the Broadcasting Act, reducing registration fees and tax for community-based electronic media and other electronic media of less wattage capacity.
The Cabinet has directed Education Minister Renu Kumari Yadav to work towards addressing problems plaguing the education sector. Minister Yadav has also been asked to work towards implementing past agreements reached with various teachers´ unions.
