KATHMANDU, Sept 3: The government has decided to observe September 8 as Gen-Z Martyrs’ Day in honor and remembrance of young people who lost their lives during the Gen-Z movement.
The government has also decided to declare a public holiday across the country on the day.

A Cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to observe September 8 (i.e. Bhadra 23) as a national day every year and grant a public holiday to honor the contributions and sacrifices of the youths who lost their lives during the movement.
Announcing the Cabinet decisions, Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel said the decision was taken to preserve the contributions of the martyrs who lost their lives during the Gen-Z movement in different parts of the country and ensure that their sacrifices are remembered permanently.
