Govt decides to develop new landfill site

KATHMANDU, July 1: The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday decided to develop Bancharo Danda of Nuwakot as the landfill site to manage the waste of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.



According to Minister for Information and Communication Shankar Pokharel, the decision was made to solve the problem arising due to frequent protests at the current landfill site at Okharpauwa, Nuwakot.



The Cabinet also appointed Kundan Aryal as the executive chairman of Nepal Television and Bal Krishna Chapagain as the chairman of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti, the state-own news ageny.



Similarly, Amar Giri was appointed chairman of Film Development Board and Narayan Prasad Acharya the General Manager of the Guthi Sansthan.



It also decided to complete the rehabilitation process of freed Kamaiyas in Kanchanpur, Bardiya and Kailali within six months.
