Govt committed to work for development of children’s organizations and protection of children: Minister Chaudhary

KATHMANDU, May 26: Minister of Women, Children and Senior Citizens Bhagwati Chaudhary monitored the children’s organizations of Kailali and Kanchanpur and took information about the situation of children there. 

Chudamani Bhatt, chairman of Nepal Children’s Organization, Sudurpaschim Province Committee submitted a memorandum to Minister Chaudhary. While receiving the memorandum, Minister Chaudhary said that she is ready to do all the work from her side to solve the problem. 

Minister Chaudhary has directed to pay special attention to the safety of children living in Balagram. She said, “I have been paying attention to these issues since yesterday. Ensure full child rights in the province and the government will support you.” 

She also directed to pay special attention to children’s education and health. She said that even at present, there is a need to pay utmost attention to the issues of street children.

Minister Chaudhary said that the government is serious about the fact that Nepal Children’s Organization has many structures in Sudurpaschim, but those structures are not protected. 

“The prime minister and former prime minister have also shown their interest in this matter. All those structures and properties are protected by the government,” she said. She further explained that there are structures and assets in more than 40 districts which need to be protected. 

There are 20 children in Dhangadhi Child Protection Home, which has been taking care of orphans and helpless children since its inception. They are enrolled in nearby Trinagar Secondary School. 

There are still a large number of unaccompanied children roaming the streets and unable to get proper education and health. It is mentioned in the memorandum that Rs 100 million has been demanded for the establishment of state-level children’s homes for such children.

The memorandum also mentions that the source of income has also been closed due to the destruction of shutters by Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City. Likewise, Rs 20 million have been demanded for immediate construction of commercial buildings for regular income sources. 

Moreover, Minister Chaudhary monitored the Nepal Children’s Organization, Kanchanpur. She expressed her gratitude towards the organization for taking back the two bigha land encroached by various people and protecting the property of the state while giving instructions to protect the property of the Children’s Organization. 

While submitting a memorandum to Minister Chaudhary, Ram Bahadur Budha, Chairman of Nepal Children’s Organization, Kanchanpur, said that a lot of work remains to be done for the development of children’s organizations and the protection of children.
