Govt bringing Higher Secondary Education, University Umbrella Acts: Minister Rai

KATHMANDU, June 12: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Ashok Kumar Rai has said the government has forwarded the process to introduce the Higher Secondary Education Act and the University Umbrella Act.

KATHMANDU, June 12: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Ashok Kumar Rai has said the government has forwarded the process to introduce the Higher Secondary Education Act and the University Umbrella Act. 


The University Umbrella Act means to provide students with their right to study in a safe environment by eliminating political activities in Tribhuvan University, he said in today's meeting of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee under the House of Representatives.

The minister said that it is sad that there is no required budget allocated for the education sector, and the budget does not address the issue of the proper management of school employees although the government's policies and programs have mentioned it. 


Lawmakers in the meeting called for addressing the demands of the protesting school employees, and creating an environment conducive for university students to pursue education in a safe environment and bringing the Federal Education Act at the earliest.
