KATHMANDU, Nov 14: The government has allocated Rs 20.04 billion to finance the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives and provincial assemblies scheduled for November 20.
According to the Ministry of Finance (MoF), it has already provided Rs 10 billion to the Election Commission for this purpose. Ananda Kafle, spokesperson for the MoF, said the ministry has set aside an additional budget of Rs 10.04 billion for the security purpose. The amount is to be provided to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), District Administrative Offices, Area Police Offices, Nepal Police, Nepal Army and the Armed Police Force.
Kafle said the MoF has allocated Rs 9.01 billion for the authorities under the MoHA, Rs 977.30 million for the Nepal Army and Rs 57.30 million for the National Investigation Department for the elections.
