"A comprehensive strategic front is the need of the hour to face the current situation. It will launch a mass movement to seek a way out," Dahal said while addressing the first national gathering of the joint front created by the Maoist party last month.
The front led by Maoist vice chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai has already announced two-month nationwide protests. Dahal said the front will include other political parties in the coming days.
The gathering formed a 144-member central committee, which will be expanded to 175, of the front.
