KATHMANDU, Aug 16: The government has been recommended to send Nepali workers to Afghanistan only on the condition of guarantee of their full security.

A government taskforce formed after the brutal murder of 13 Nepali migrant workers in a bomb blast in Afghanistan on June 21 has submitted its report, suggesting the government to ensure full security of Nepali workers before sending them to the war-torn country.

The taskforce headed by Secretary at the Ministry of Labour and Transport Bishnu Prasad Lamsal today submitted the report to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The report has suggested the government to be fully aware of possibility of bad consequence(s) before sending workers to conflict-hit zone.

Receiving the report, PM Dahal pledged to fully implement the taskforce suggestions. Stating that the issue of sending workers to the war-torn country was itself a sensitive issue, the PM vowed to abide by the taskforce recommendations, according to his personal deputy secretary Manohari Timilsina.

The report will be taken to the Cabinet meeting for discussions, he said.

On the occasion, Minister for Supply and the then Labour Minister Deepak Bohara said the government would come up with effective measures to ensure full security of Nepali migrant workers.

According to taskforce secretary Lamsal, the report was prepared on the basis of field study and all bodies concerned cooperated towards that end. RSS
