KATHMANDU, June 16: The government has initiated consultation with experts and stakeholders to prepare land utilization policy.
The government officials said the consultations were held to eliminate the trend of plotting huge arable land and selling in high costs. The new policy would not allow leaving the cultivable land unused.
Press Coordinator of Minister for Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives, Bam Lal Giri, told media that initial discussion was held whether the land could be categorized for industry, enterprise, settlement and cultivation.
Similarly, Minister for Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives, Chakrapani Khanal, said, "Huge number of people has migrated from village to cities, while the children of those living in city are on foreign jobs."
According to him, most of the remittance was used to buy small portion of land, thereby encouraging unnecessary plotting of cultivable lands.
The land brokers have established close contact with the employees at Land Revenue Office. With the lure by land brokers, the employees have involved in evading tax, he added.
The Minister underscored that the properties of the land brokers would be investigated and the employees involved in dodging tax taken action. RSS
