Entrepreneurs and poultry farmers have been demanding the permission to use the vaccine since long as they have incurred heavy losses from the spread of disease.
The Directorate of Animal Health (DoAH) under Ministry of Agriculture Development (MoAD), however, said that it would not allow private sectors to import the vaccines and the office itself will regulate its supply.[break]
Dr Narayan Prasad Ghimire, spokesperson of the DoAH, said, "We ourselves will determine the type of vaccine to be used and control its supply."
In the first phase, the office will vaccinate the parent chickens as they are costly compared to others. Dr Ghimire said that the office will gradually administer the vaccine on other chickens as well. The office has also called flu experts from France to study the flu induced crises in poultry industry and suggest proper vaccine.
The office said that avian influenza (virus) changes its nature frequently and has already transformed thrice since it was first detected in 2009.
Meanwhile, the office informed that rapid response teams comprising vet technicians have culled 2,06,986 bird flu tainted chickens in 59 separate poultry farms of capital in the last three weeks.
The vet technicians have also destroyed 3,30,178 eggs and 26,740 kg chicken feed, 33 kg processed chicken and manure in the very period.
Officials say that the disease is yet to come in control and claim that they are working to curb the disease on a war footing.
The office had also enforced ban on entire poultry products for a week following rapid spread of the virus, which was lifted Thursday evening.
The office has established quarantine check posts at Nagdhunga, Farping, Sanga Bhanjyang and Nagarjun to ensure that no tainted chicken enters the market. Officials claim that veterinary doctors will conduct rapid tests of the chickens at the checkpoints and, if founded infected, destroy them on the spot.
