KATHMANDU, March 26: The government is all set to provide NRs one million to the family of Basudev Shah who was shot dead by the Indian Shashastra Seema Ball(SSB) six years back.
The victim Shah was a resident of the Nepal-India border area known as Bayarbana, Amahi Bariyati-7.
India denies incident of firing by SSB
Shas was shot dead by the Indian SSB on May 25, 2010 inside Nepal at the area bordering on India.
“The government has already made a decision to provide the Shah family with NRs one million”, said Deputy Prime Minister Nidhi’s Press Advisor Ramji Dahal.
On May 25, 2010, two Indian SSB personnel belonging to 24 SSB Battalion entered Nepal incognito following smugglers at 8 am. After they started attacking Nepalis , the locals and the local police personnel resisted their attack. After the situation started taking on serious form, SSB Inspector Hitendra Singh opened fire indiscriminately. Shah was shot dead at that time.
