Gorkha landslide: Three bodies found, two still missing

GORKHA, July 29: Three bodies have been found out of five people who went missing after a landslide occurred at Resegaon, Dharche Rural Municipality-5, Gorkha. 

Among the dead are Sulal Kanchha Gurung, 60, his son Jit Bahadur Gurung, 37, and his daughter-in-law Kanchhimaya Gurung, 35, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ramesh Kumar Shrestha of the District Police Office, Gorkha. 

On Saturday morning, a woman’s body was found on the bank of the Fishling River at Barkheghat in Gandaki Rural Municipality-8. It was suspected that the body might have been brought there due to the same landslide. The police have already confirmed that the body belongs to Kanchhimaya Gurung. 

On Sunday morning, around 3 AM,  33-year-old Ramesh Gurung from Singla in the same ward and 24-year-old Ramesh Pariyar who worked as a tractor driver were swept away by a landslide. The police said that a search is underway to find them.
