The management had laid off 10 workers, who were over 55 years old, and replaced them with six new workers in the beginning of August. [break]
"The management says it has recruited six workers. But the fact is, 20 new workers have been recruited after the workers were laid off," said Jit Bahadur Bhatta, chairman of the struggle committee formed by the locals.
"We´ve launched protest against the management because we believe locals should get priority for the job."
Following protest of locals and workers, the management has terminated appointment of six new workers.
Agitating workers said the company will not resume operation unless the sacked workers are duly compensated.
