KAPILVASTU, Oct 26: As Vijaya Dashami marks its culmination, the idols of Goddess Durga, displayed at various locations in Kapilvastu, have been ceremoniously immersed.

The statues of Goddess Durga have been submerged in the local river channel, accompanied by musical bands. These idols were prominently showcased in market villages across ten municipalities in the district as part of the Dashain festivities. In addition, special Hawan ceremonies were conducted in honor of the idols during the Navratri celebration.

The District Administration Office reported that more than 350 Goddess Durga idols were crafted and placed in the ten municipalities of Kapilvastu. While some devotees performed prayers on Ghatasthapana, the majority conducted them on Saptami.

Worshippers gathered at various locations, including Ram Ghat, Lakshmanaghat, Surai Bel river, and numerous canals in Banganga, to pay homage to Goddess Durga. The immersions took place over three days during the celebrations on Navami, Dashami, and Ekadashi. It is believed that fasting and praying to Goddess Durga during Navratri will bring forth the fulfillment of one's wishes. In addition to the festivities, various fairs were organized at places where the idols were sold.

As a preventive measure, police were deployed across the area to ensure safety. In Krishna Nagar, security measures were established during the immersion ceremony. Chief District Officer Shankar Hari Acharya reported that peace and security were reinforced throughout the district to avert any potential conflicts or incidents during the idol immersion process.

He further confirmed that there were no untoward incidents during the immersions. Devotees paraded the idols through town, eventually taking them to Ram Ghat for their final burial, accompanied by music and dance.
