Gloves for bikers

KATHMANDU, July 5: Hands are perhaps the most susceptible parts in our body. We have to lay them in numerous activities -- both delicate and robust. Hands are even venerable when it comes to motorcycling. They operate the primary control of your motorcycle and are also totally exposed to the wind, heat and cold. And if you happen to make an unfortunate dismount, it´ll be your faithful hands that instinctively reach out to break your fall. [break]

Sure it feels good to ride without gloves on a summer day...for about 10 minutes. After that you will just be planning for painful sunburn and the inevitable surface numbness that comes from too much exposure to wind. So what you need here is a pair of gloves.

Pritam Rajkarnikar of Top Gear Motorcycle Accessories, New Baneshwar says, "Be it for avoiding accidents or for maintaining easy grip, motorcycle gloves are crucial. Plus gloves are used for both style and comfort."

Top Gear has plenty of gloves options for bikers; some have ventilation while others have hard protective inserts on the knuckles and the back of the hands some too are stitched with a kind of fastening system about the wrist so the gloves actually stay on the hands should you take a tumble.

Top Gear sells gloves imported from China, Taiwan, Singapore, and Thailand. These gloves are available at the price range of Rs 250 - Rs 3,000 depending upon the brand and material.

Knighthood, Pro-Biker, Alpine-Star, Tiercel, Snap Professional, Fox and Scoyco are some of the brands that can be chosen from the forest of brands available at the store. Some entries among the brands available are only intended for hot weather, while others are more three-season affairs (a great option if you want to buy and tote only one pair, or ride in variable conditions often). Some of the gloves provide enhanced crash protection while others are waterproof as well as breathable. There´s something for everyone in this collection and more than one desirable choice for those of us who prefer precise applications for specific jobs.

If style is the major reason behind having gloves then one can insert their hands on any of those sleek gauntlets. But if protection and safety is the main purpose than a glove should have as few seams as possible, especially in impact-prone areas. The junction of the thumb and forefinger should be reinforced. Extra reinforcement in the palm area is an asset for protection and comfort. Palm padding, be it additional leather, foam or high-tech gel, will also diffuse vibration. When you´re looking for hot weather gloves, think airflow that is to say the gloves need to be windproof.
