Global peace possible only when big countries work on peace: NCP leader Nepal

KATHMANDU, Aug 6: Senior leader of NCP, Madhav Kumar Nepal, has said the world would be peaceful once the powerful countries work for peace.

KATHMANDU, Aug 6: Senior leader of NCP, Madhav Kumar Nepal, has said the world would be peaceful once the powerful countries work for peace.


While speaking at a program organized by Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Organization in memory of 74th Hiroshima Nagasaki attacks, leader Nepal said, "Unless the powerful countries worked for peace, Nepal's voice raised for world peace could not be advanced effectively," adding that Nepal had been advocating for peace in the international forums and other countries could also learn from Nepal's peace process.

The science, as he said, could be used for the development of human but not for devastation. "Nuclear weapons must not be misused but utilized for world development," he underscored. The Hiroshima and Nagasaki incidents are harrowing ones, he remembered, pointing out the need for peace, development and public awareness across the globe. Nepal has the non-alignment policy, leader Nepal reminded.


On the occasion, Organization Chairman Hiranya Lal Shrestha said Nepal could set up a study center on nuclear.
