Nisha Budhathoki, 8, of Beltar-6 drowned in the confluence of the Khairaha, Dhomuna and Triyuga rivers in Hadiya VDC on Saturday afternoon, police said.
Budhathoki had gone to graze the cattle with her friends. She drowned while swimming in the river, her maternal uncle Hem Bahadur Raut said.
Budhathoki had gone to her maternal uncle’s home in Hadiya a few days ago for her vacations.
Her body has been taken to the district hospital for postmortem.
Meanwhile, a man has gone missing in the Rapti River, Chitwan, while taking a bath on Saturday.
Mohan Bhattarai, 39, of Madhyapur Thimi of Bhaktapur district drowned in the river while taking bath, according to an eye witness. Police said search for the missing is underway.
