According to Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu, they were forced to open fire as he attempted to target them with his pistol to flee the scene. Ghainte sustained injury in his thigh when the police opened fire on him. He is currently undergoing treatment in Bir Hospital. Police had long been making effort to arrest him over a murder case.
