KATHMANDU, July 30: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Jeevan Ram Shrestha has claimed that the gangs and mafias are creating problems for the proper management of the waste in Kathmandu Valley.
Addressing the inauguration program of Bangh Indrachowk and historical Bangh Dabu in Kathmandu on Saturday, Shrestha said the gangs are complicating the problem and making it a big issue even as the management of the waste is a simple thing.
Minister Shrestha said that the local level should now manage the waste from the source itself. He also mentioned that the federal government is ready to assist local governments in managing the waste in all ways possible.
On the occasion, Minister Shrestha also announced that the Ministry of Tourism is going to start a national campaign to clean the temples and monasteries to solve these problems. He said that there is a need for coordination between the federal, provincial and local governments to complete the sanitation plan.
