The Parsa district chapter of the Private and Boarding Schools Organization of Nepal (PABSON) has called the closure of schools in the district for Friday protesting the incident.
The tip-off about the bomb was provided by an unidentified person, who claimed to have placed the bomb as the principal of the school, Hari Shyam Thakur, did not receive his repeated phone calls. "I called the principal asking for money," he told Anil Patel, a peon of the school who received his call Wednesday night. "He didn´t receive my call so I planted the bomb."
A team of Nepal Army (NA) defused the bomb at 11 pm, three hours after the person tipped off about the bomb. Principal Thakur said that someone, who used Indian telephone number to call him, had demanded money from him. "I refused to provide money," Thakur said. "And, I did not pick up any call later."
Teacher points gun at colleagues
A teacher at a private school in Biratnagar has tried to shoot his two colleagues at the school premises, according to our Biratnagar correspondent Khilanath Dhakal.
Anil Gachchhadar of Birat Cooperative Boarding School at Munalpath took out a pistol and tried to shoot fellow teachers DK Pradhan and Tekendra Basnet.
Gachchhadar, who had come with an unknown man, locked the teacher duo, preparing to publish examinations results, inside a room and tried to kill them for the latter´s "weaknesses". Basnet retaliated after Gachchhadar pointed the pistol at Pradhan and an unpleasant incident was averted when the pistol fell off Gachchhadar´s hands during the scuffle. The teacher duo then ran away from the room while Gachchhadar and the stranger also fled.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the District Police Office Rewati Dhakal said investigation into the incident is on.
