Gachchhadar, who is also the minister for Physical Planning, said that no one could stop the government from tabling the budget as the national economy is sliding towards crisis.
“It´d be meaningless to argue that this government doesn´t have the legitimacy to table budget," he said, talking to reporters at Biratnagar Airport Monday.
The deputy prime minister called on all the political parties to help the government endorse the budget and prevent the country from sliding towards crisis.
"Where is it written in the interim constitution that a caretaker government cannot table the budget?" The Madhesi People´s Rights Forum, Democratic (MPRF-D) chairman, asked.
If the budget is not endorsed by mid-October, the government will not be in a position to pay salaries to civil servants and the whole economic activities will come to a grinding halt.
Gachchhadar called on all the political parties to be serious about the looming economic crisis and cooperate with the government to endorse the budget. "Any political party opposing the budget should think twice about their move," he said.
The deputy prime minister, who was here to inspect a dozen bridges being constructed in Morang and Sunsari districts, said the country would not get a new prime minister until the major political parties including the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML backtrack from their rigid stance on government leadership.
He, however, reasoned that a solution would be found if the major parties agreed to give the post of prime minister to some Madhes-based or fringe parties.
