Addressing a press conference organized after the meeting of his faction´s central members and parliamentarians, Gachchhadar also expressed dissatisfaction at the failure of CPN-UML and Nepali Congress to involve his party in the power-sharing deal.
“The Home Ministry should be given to us [MPRF],” he said. “Other key ministries should also be duly given to Madhes-based parties. Nepali Congress and UML should not engage in just sharing key ministries between themselves.”
Gachchhadar asked NC and UML to involve MPRF while making power sharing deal in the new cabinet as Madhesi parties had an important role in forming the new government. “The sharing of ministries should be finalized only after consulting us,” he further said. “But the Nepali Congress and the UML have not discussed the issue with.”
He said that the issue of sharing ministerial portfolios could affect coalition of the government. “We need to rethink whether to join the government if Nepali Congress and UML made us to choose the ministries from among those left out by them,” he further said.
He, however, said that the government will not be put at risk. “We helped to form the government. We will help the government to sustain even by lending support from outside,” he said.
Earlier on June 10, the MPRF faction had formed a five-member task force under Gachchhadar to finalize names of ministerial candidates and ministerial portfolios in the UML-led government. Gachchhadar said they will immediately send the names of ministers once the number and names of ministries are finalized.
Altogether 29 of the 53 MPRF parliamentarians and 16 of the total 35 central committee members of the party had attended the Saturday´s meeting held by Gachchhadar faction after the split of the party early this week.
