Fund raising event held to help cardiac patients

KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Jayanti Memorial Trust (JMT) in collaboration with Zonta Club of Kathmandu held a fund-raising event at Hotel Annapurna on Friday. The event was held to spread awareness about the cause and condition of heart diseases among the youngsters.

JMT has been organizing fund-raising events for cardiac patients every year since its establishment. The organization sponsors treatment of marginalized patients who have weak financial condition. Apart from financial aid, JMT has been donating medical devices to Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center (SGNHC) and Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center (MCVTC), Kathmandu. They even conduct educational programs for physicians and nurses to learn from international medical experts. JMT has sponsored the treatment for 3,181 patients till January, this year.


JMT launched a heart-shaped coat pin this year which carries the awareness about importance to protect and take good care of our heart. The official launch of the pin was done by Miss Nepal, 2015, Evana Manandar.

Volunteers of Zonta Club have been selling the pins at different places such as the coffee shop at Hotel Annapurna and branches of Bhat Bhateni Supermarket.

Speaking at the event, Shreejana Rana, the first vice-president of Zonta Club Nepal, mentioned that there occur more than seven million deaths in a year worldwide due to various heart diseases.

Zonta International Club is a worldwide organization that is working for developing the status of women around the world whether it is socially, economically, health wise, educational issues or stopping violence against women.

Personalities like Dr Bhawana Koirala , Pramila Acharya , Shreejana Rana, Dr Singha Bahadur Basnyat, Rita Singh, and many young students representing their schools and colleges were present during the program.
