Fulpati brought to Nepali homes, Prez attends celebration

KATHMANDU, Oct 11: All the Nepalese have anointed fulpati, an assortment of fruits, flowers, leaves and stems of different plants considered auspicious in the jamara kotha of their houses at the auspicious hour of 9:31 on Friday morning as per Hindu rituals.



This is a ritual performed on the seventh day of Ghatasthapana during the Bada Dashain festival. There is also a tradition of reciting prayers of the goddess Bhagawati on this day. [break]



Nepalese people feel the real advent of the Dashain festival in their homes from this day. People out of the country are returning home for the festival and who fail to arrive today arrive by the Dashami or Tika day, but the festival activities begin from today. Government offices are closed from Fulpati to Dwadashi day for the festival.



Meanwhile, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav attended the special parade organized on the occasion of Fulpati at the Nepal Army pavilion on Friday afternoon.



Also present on the occasion were Vice-president Parmananda Jha, Chairman of the Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi, Heads of Constitutional bodies, diplomats and high-ranking government officials.



Earlier, upon arrival at the pavilion, President Dr Yadav was welcomed by Chief of the Army Staff Gaurav Shumsher JB Rana.



A large number of people were present in and around the army pavilion to witness the fulpati parade
