French envoy calls on UML chief

KATHMANDU, Oct 15: French ambassador to Nepal Jean-Charles Demarquis called on CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal at the latter’s residence in Dallu, Kathmandu, on Monday morning.



During the meeting, the two discussed Nepal’s latest political developments, including efforts being made to form a consensus government, a press statement issued by Khanal’s aide Ram Babur Adhikari said. [break]



Khanal informed the envoy that the political parties are trying their best to forge consensus and expressed his hope that the country would soon get rid of the current crisis.



On the occasion, the UML chief also expressed his gratitude for France’s continual assistance for Nepal’s development efforts.



In response, the French envoy expressed his desire to see Nepal advancing to economic prosperity after maintaining political stability in the country early.
