Freed Kamaiya killed in clash in Bardiya

BARDIYA, Oct 9: A person was killed and scores injured in a clash between freed Kamaiyas living inside the Black Buck Conservation Area and locals of Khairapur in Bardiya at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.



Pattu Tharu, 50, of Gulariya Municipality-5 died on the spot during the clash. Suraj Chaudhary, who was critically injured in the incident, is being treated at the district hospital in Gulariya, while Jagadish Yadav has returned home after treatment.







The clash ensued after cattle started grazing the crops planted by the freed Kamaiyas inside the conservation area.



Police Inspector Sagar Bikram Rana said eight persons involved in the clash have been arrested for investigation.
